It’s hard to believe that a beautiful girl like Kaci could be overlooked for so long. She has been in the care of Animal Helpline in South Lincolnshire for many months now and sadly they haven’t had a single adoption enquiry for her.
Kaci is a 7-8 year old, medium-sized, crossbreed girl who had a tough life before coming into rescue. She didn’t get enough food or exercise and, sadly, was often beaten. Because of this she is slow to trust people and can be possessive with her food. To her foster mum however, she is the perfect dog and once she bonds with you she is very loving and loyal. She just needs a kind and patient owner who will let her settle, unpack her bags and live without fear.
Kaci is good with other dogs, but because she is possessive with her food she needs to be fed separately. She shares her foster home with other dogs, large and small, and is fine with them. She can be quite playful, particularly with the resident Jack Russell terrier, who she often likes to chase. With a gentle introduction Kaci should be fine living with other dogs in her new home, but in the right home she would also be happy as the only dog. She has quite a strong chase instinct and will chase birds in the garden, so she’s going to need a home without cats and small furries.
Kaci travels well in the car and is good in the home. She is crate and house trained and doesn’t mind being left for reasonable periods of time. She loves to play with toys and is always very eager to please, especially for a treat, so she would do well in any treat-based training.
When she first arrived in her foster home, Kaci was unsure of her lead and had to be gently coaxed to put it on. It has taken a lot of patience, but she now knows that her lead means something exciting and she enjoys going out for her walks. Her recall has improved whilst in her foster home, but in her new home she will need to be kept on the lead until she has bonded with her new owner. She won’t require huge amounts of exercise, but would love to have access to a garden where she can come and go at her leisure.
All Kaci asks for is a quiet home without any children where she can settle in at her own pace and look forward to a bright future. If you think you can offer her that, please contact Animal Helpline as follows;
