Rex 17 months homed

Rex originally came into rescue in April & was homed in September but came back into rescue this month.
Rex is not actually a GSD. He was described by his previous owners as a Belgian sort of German Shepherd. Looks to us like he's a Malinois (one of the varieties of Belgian Shepherd). They reckoned he was coming up to one year old but we think he's a bit younger.

His original owners reported that they couldn't cope with him because he was aggressive to anyone he came across. They'd tried to get rid of him by letting him loose several miles away, but he got back to their car before they did and hopped back in. They then tried to find a farmer to shoot him for them - nobody agreed to help, so eventually someone gave them Vigil's number. With that story there was no way Vigil could refuse to take him in.  

He arrived and appeared aggressive as they'd described, but after a couple of sessions, he settled down and is now calm and accepting of strangers.

It is thought his aggression was all fear related and there have not been any problems with him since. Once he has gained trust in someone he is really quite a soppy dog. He is good with other dogs and is learning how to walk on a lead.



Rex is now in foster with John in Chertsey, Surrey & has settled in really well as you can see.

He is a complete bundle of energy so an active home is a must and we think he would excel at obedience or agility.

Rex's story

Unfortunately Rex has come back into rescue and is back in foster with John in Chertsey Surrey.

John took Rex to a lady called Julie in Kidderminster the other night whose passion is malinois & who is going to train him for a working life to keep him busy. If it doesn't work out he's got a permanent new life as a pet. John has been promised updates.
